The Heart of the Family is our autumn gathering: a harvest dinner in the barn for as many cousins as the tables will hold. Susan's recipe book sets the menu, Daniel's brass bell opens the quiz, and the evening ends — always — with sparklers on the lawn.

How the evening unfolds
6pm – Arrival & photographs
Find your place card, meet the new babies, and add your portrait to the year's gallery wall.
7pm – The harvest dinner
Three courses from Susan's book, cooked by this year's volunteer brigade. Dietary needs to Margaret by 1 November.
9pm – Toasts & the quiz
Each branch raises a toast; then Daniel's bell rings and twenty questions decide the year's champions.
11pm – Sparklers on the lawn
Coats on, sparklers out, and the group photograph that becomes next year's invitation.
