Evelyn married into the Ferngates in 1950 and wrote down everything — the Christmas pudding weights, the christening cake method, the soup that fixed every cold. Her three recipe books still travel from kitchen to kitchen each December.
She also kept every letter the family ever sent her, bundled by year in blue ribbon. Our archivists are still working through the boxes, and every reunion brings a new story out of them.
